Two days of luxe resort life and lavish lingerie sure sounded good to the 3,500-plus who showed up for the hotel’s grand re-opening and the bra-and-panty giant’s annual fashion show Friday and Saturday in Miami Beach.

Tennis ace Serena Williams might have considered a bigger size of bikini bottoms if she planned to do more than sun bathing.

The tennis champ hit the waves for some surfing in Hawaii but her barely-there swimsuit pants failed to cover her behind, leaving little to the imagination.

An energetic Serena showed off a little too much of her athletic physique as she balanced on her surfboard.

Serena hit the waves with rapper boyfriend Common, while taking a break from her tennis commitments.

Sharon Stone loses custody

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Actress Sharon Stone has lost another round of custody proceedings over her oldest son. A San Francisco judge denied her request for primary custody of 8-year-old Roan, who’s been living with his father, newspaper executive Phil Bronstein. The couple divorced in 2004 after six years of marriage.

The judge ruled Sept. 12 that Bronstein’s home is more stable and structured, reaffirming a 2007 court order that the executive vice president of the San Francisco Chronicle has permanent sole custody of Roan. Stone retains visitation rights. The judge also said the parents must consult with each other before enrolling their child in any tutoring activities, and that Stone’s telephone number should be programmed into Roan’s cell and home telephones.

Stone has two other sons, Laird and Quinn, whom she adopted on her own. A call to Stone’s lawyer was not immediately returned Tuesday.

Jennifer Hudson will sing the national anthem

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Oscar-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson will sing the national anthem at the Democratic National Convention in Denver on Thursday, the night Barack Obama accepts his party’s nomination for president.

Hudson, 26, a native of Obama’s home town of Chicago, was asked to sing “The Star Spangled Banner” at the convention at the request of the Illinois senator, Theola Borden, her publicist at RCA Music Group, said on Tuesday.

Borden said Hudson performed for Obama once before early in her career at a local event in Chicago.

Hudson first gained public attention as a contestant during the third season of the hit television talent contest “American Idol” but ended up as the sixth finalist voted off the show.

Undaunted, Hudson went on to land the role of Effie White in the movie adaptation of the musical “Dreamgirls,” based loosely on the story of the Motown act “The Supremes,” for which she won an Academy Award as best supporting actress.

Her self-titled debut album, “Jennifer Hudson,” is due for release on September 30 through RCA’s Arista Records label. Hudson will appear in the upcoming film “The Secret Life of Bees,” opposite Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys and Dakota Fanning, debuting in theaters on October 17.

Cher to Play Catwoman in Next Batman Movie

Cher will play Catwoman in the next “Batman” movie, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Oscar-winning actress and singer, 62, is in talks to star opposite Christian Bale in the third of the “dark” Batman films directed by Christopher Nolan, according to the tabloid.

A studio executive reportedly told the Mirror: “Cher is Nolan’s first choice to play Catwoman. He wants her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years. The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry’s purring creations.”

Rumors also have Johnny Depp starring as The Riddler, Angelina Jolie as Catwoman and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin in the follow-up to this summer’s blockbuster “The Dark Knight.”

Katherine Heigl Says She Will Stay On “Grey’s Anatomy”

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) – Reports have been circulating that Katherine Heigl wants to leave “Grey’s Anatomy,” ever since she withdrew her name from the Emmy nominations.

According to Heigl, she has no such plans. The star, who plays Izzie on the medical drama, says she will “of course” return to the show that helped make her famous. That doesn’t mean, however, that she isn’t getting lots and lots of movie offers.

Heigl has starred in “Knocked Up” and “27 Dresses” since she started on “Grey’s.”

Heigl is contracted with “Grey’s” through the 2008-2009 season and is already filming episodes. In a recent interview she said the other cast members on the show are like her family and that it is a happy and joyous place to work.

Larson’s breast surgery drove Clooney away

Hollywood superstar George Clooney might have broken up with his girlfriend Sarah Larson because she underwent a breast enhancement surgery.

Larson got breast augmentation in mid-May just before Clooney broke up with her.

A source said: George really didn’t want her to get the …. job. She asked George if she could do her recovery at his house and he agreed. They had a huge fight and he left the house. Sarah read in the media that they’d broken up and freaked out because George hadn’t told her anything. He had to explain himself because she’d found out with the rest of the world.

Larson, who was working as a waitress when Clooney met her, seems to be happy with her new look. A friend said: She likes her new body so much that she would consider posing for Playboy. Now that she’s famous, she’d never go back to cocktailing.

Tatum O’Neal arrested in NYC drug bust

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say Academy Award-winning actress Tatum O’Neal has been arrested after buying crack cocaine near her home in Manhattan.

Police say the 44-year-old actress was seen making the illicit purchase at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. She is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

O’Neal, daughter of actor Ryan O’Neal, appears regularly on the cable television series “Rescue Me” and was the youngest person to win an Oscar for her role in 1973’s “Paper Moon.”

She chronicled her struggles with addiction in her memoir, “A Paper Life.”

Police could not say whether she had an attorney. Messages left for a publicist were not returned early Monday.
