Britney Spears hits the beach in Costa Rica

A bikini-clad Britney Spears got her picture taken this weekend while relaxing and soaking up the sun on a Costan Rican beach where she was reportedly staying at actor Mel Gibson’s property.

“She did it again,” the La Nacion daily said Sunday in a play on Spears’ 1999 chart-busting hit “Oops! … I Did It Again.”

“At five minutes to midday (Saturday), the artist appeared on scene on an ATV (all terrain vehicle) driving from the home of Mel Gibson, who invited her to spend a few days in Costa Rica” at his 163-hectare (402-acre) spread in the Pacific coast resort town of Samara, the daily said.

The story included several photos of the troubled pop star on Barrigona beach, in a bikini and sunglasses.

Spears was in the company of her father, Jamie Spears — who apparently told the paparazzi they could shoot all they wanted as long as they kept at a 50-meter (yard) distance — and a young couple, the daily said. Gibson or his wife, Robyn Moore, were nowhere to be seen, it added.

Spears, 26, appears happier since a Los Angeles court on May 6 gave her more visitation time with her two children, who are in the custody of her ex-husband Kevin Federline since the couple split in 2006, amid her spiraling personal problems and fears for her mental health.

Spears shot to superstardom in late 1998 with her smash-hit debut album “Baby One More Time,” which she followed with another chart-topping success the following year, “Oops! … I Did It Again.”

She may be a new mother, but Christina Aguilera hasn’t let it dull down her dress sense. The 27-year-old singer, who gave birth to son Max just four months ago, has showed off an array of glamorous outfits during a trip to New York and was clearly keen to make the most of her boosted post-baby bust line. Last night the star turned heads in a plunging button-up green number as she headed out for dinner with her record executive husband Jordan Bratman.

During her time in the Big Apple, Christina was also spotted in two separate – but equally low cut – bright print dresses. For a night of clubbing she opted for a sheer grey vest which showed her leopard-print bra, black leggings and suede Christian.

While Christina has clearly mastered looking effortlessly chic after shedding her formerly Dirrty image, the same can not be said for Bratman, who regularly looks rather dishevelled by comparison.

The couple arrived in the city on Monday to attended Christian Dior fashion show. Christina is expected to return to the recording studio this month where she plans to work with DJ Premier.

She recently revealed she’s not short in inspiration for new material to follow up the hugely successful Back to Basics album. She said: “This whole incredible thing that’s taken part in my life, between the pregnancy and the birth, I’ve got so much to be inspired about and so much in my life to write about.

Mariah Carey Weds Nick Cannon

Singer Mariah Carey has confirmed in a US magazine interview that she has tied the knot with actor Nick Cannon. “We really do feel we are soul mates - I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me,” the 38-year-old told People magazine.

Carey confirmed the pair married on 30 April in the Bahamas following a whirlwind two-month romance. The pop diva met Cannon, 27, while shooting the music video for her single Bye Bye. “It was a love-at-first-sight thing. Since we’ve been together, we’ve been inseparable,” Cannon told the magazine. According to People, Cannon had proposed to the singer on the rooftop of her New York apartment building just five days before their wedding.

‘Mrs Cannon’
The singer dismissed reports their marriage was as last minute as reported: “One thing [few people] knew was we got tattoos a few weeks earlier. So anyone who saw my tattoo wasn’t surprised,” she said. Talk show host Oprah Winfrey also revealed on a recent programme that Carey had showed her a tattoo on her back that said “Mrs Cannon”.

Dreadlocked Jason Castro tossed off Idol

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Jason Castro, the mellow singer whose dreadlocked good looks earned the devotion of countless teenage girls, was voted off “American Idol” on Wednesday, leaving three finalists to compete for the show’s top prize.

The departure of Castro, 20, whittled the competition on the top-rated TV talent show down to scruffy alternative rocker David Cook, baby-faced crooner David Archuleta and last-girl-standing Syesha Mercado.

Castro had been advised to pack his suitcase by no-nonsense “Idol” judge Simon Cowell on Tuesday after bungling the lyrics to Bob Dylan’s 1965 classic “Mr Tambourine Man” and showed little surprise as he was given the hook.
